airkrete®

airkrete InsulationThe modern insulation technology that adds value to your home, comfort to your family, and cuts high heating and air conditioning costs.

It’s the only retrofit non-expanding foam that fills every nook and cranny in your walls and air seals while it insulates. Air Krete cementitious foam is installed from the exterior of your home so there is minimal inconvenience to you. It has a shaving cream consistency so as it’s pumped into your wall it flows around receptacles, wires, pipes and other obstructions to fill the cavity. It does not settle, shrink or lose R-value over time. It stops air infiltration, as does every foam. This makes the biggest difference because without drafts your home will fell more comfortable.

Spray Foam

Spray FoamSpray foam’s energy qualities are what make it most desirable but you’ll also notice decreased outside noise and much less dust in your home.

Dry cellulose is used in retrofitting old homes by blowing the cellulose into holes drilled into the tops of the walls. It can also be blown into a new wall construction by using temporary retainers or netting that is clamped in place then removed once the cellulose has reached the appropriate density. This form of application does settle as much as 20% but the stated R-value of the cellulose is accurate after settling occurs. In addition, a dense-pack option can be used to reduce settling and further minimize air gaps. Dense-pack places pressure on the cavity, and should be done by an experienced installer.

Air Sealing

Air Sealing - Bauer Specialty Erie PASealing air leaks is critical to maintain an effective air barrier.  Without a quality air barrier insulation can not be fully effective.

Insulation is not fully effective unless it is installed properly – fully aligned with a contiguous air barrier. An air barrier is any material that restricts the flow of air through a construction assembly.  The combination of exterior sheathing and building wraps is the typical exterior air barrier.  The internal air barrier is your interior wall finish.  Now place insulation inside this wall and if its touching the barrier on all sides it will perform quite well.
